THE LONG ISLAND RAILROAD - Greenport to Jamaica: Part 1

Climb aboard the cab of a L.I.R.R. GP-38-2 diesel engine for a "Head-End" ride from Greenport to Ronkonkoma, N.Y, (part 2 covers the balance of the trip into Jamaica). Our train is the" L.I.R.R. 160th Anniversary Special" which was operated on July 23, 1994 to celebrate 160 years of continuous operation. This picturesque line is single track non-electrified manual block territory.
