BOSTON'S GREEN LINE: VOLUME 1 - RIVERSIDE TO GOVT CENTER
This line is among the best known to traction fans in North America as it is one of the few extensions built during the 1950’s, a time when most traction systems on this continent were being abandoned. A far sighted Boston connected what had been a commuter railroad to its existing streetcar subway and created what today is a popular and heavily used line. This line is both the oldest operating subway in North America and a modern light-rail system. Video interest in the tunnel portions is enhanced by high visibility in the tunnels and surface views of the major stations. The ride on this program is on a Type 7 Surface Rail Car, built by Kinki Sharyo of Japan in the mid 1980’s. Shot on a busy, sunny weekday afternoon, there is plenty of activity and many bright outdoor scenes, making the line green in more ways than one
