This unique city in North America also features an unusual form of public transportation for the 1990s – genuine 1923 trolleys. These are quintessential North American cars, like those which once ran in virtually every city on this continent. They are long gone elsewhere except for their restoration in very limited capacity as tourist lines. But in the Crescent City they are still a serious part of the transit system, moving over 20,000 people daily.
