If there were ever an inanimate object with a personality, it’s the PCC car. Designed in the 1930s by a commission set up by the Presidents of many electric railways, this car became an international standard which survived for well over sixty years. By the end of the 20th century, two of the three showcased lines would be slated for abandonment or upgrading. Only Boston survives, interestingly, with the oldest group of cars. Therefore, we have documented the final days of these cars on the City Subway in Newark and of the Drake Line near Pittsburgh. See and hear these cars as they seem to complain about taking tight corners, or approve of good track. We cover all three lines thoroughly with a round trip over each line, graced with very frequent run past sequences.
