THE SILK EXPRESS
This black & white 1933 railroad drama is directed by Ray Enright and stars Nel, Shelia Terry, Arthur Byron and Guy Kibbee, A group of unscrupulous businessmen get advanced “insider” news that the coming years fashion will feature silk. They buy up all the available silk they can get their hands on and drive up the price in an attempt to make a killing. Another group (the good guys) representing the fashion industry designers refuse to be swindled and take a daring step. They place a $3,000,000 order for raw silk to be shipped from Japan to Portland, Oregon then transported to New York by train. The crooks try to “derail” the shipment by using every dirty trick in the book. But in the end the good guys prevail.
